Hello Support Group Members and Fellow Celiacs.  At our May 4th meeting we had the privilege of hearing Dr. Ancowitz speak about Fertility and its' relationship to Celiac Disease.  Many of you asked for his contact information, so here is the Providence location.  He has offices in Johnston and Lincoln too.

This extra posting will be up for 1 month then it will be posted to our Announcement Page.

We are very proud to be of assistance to you. Celiac Disease is not rare, but an under diagnosed medical condition. According to the University of Maryland Celiac Research Center, 1 out of 133 people here in RI and the United States have celiac disease. The American Celiac Support Group of RI was the second group in the US to become involved in this research study a few years ago. Another study completed by the Celiac Disease Center indicated that if you combined all the people with crohn's, ulcerative colitis and cystic fibrosis there are still far more people with celiac disease. See the U. of Maryland link for Celiac Research Data. Columbia Celiac Center states a study that more than 1.5 million Americans suffer from celiac disease. Check out the Columbia Celiac Center studies and information on their link located on this opening page. Both the U. of Maryland Celiac Research Center and Columbia Celiac Center are the advisors to the American Celiac Family Support Group of RI. Feel free to contact us if you need any Celiac assistance. The e-mail address is: MonahanLinda@yahoo.com, and please write the words "celiac question" in the regarding link. Again, welcome and we hope we have made a positive impact on you or your loved ones health.
